Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: MDH contracted with Alta planning and design, active transportation planning professionals, to facilitate a planning process to develop an inclusive walk audit planning guide with input from a community-led advisory committee to provide direction to communities and local public health staff in engaging people with disabilities in planning for more walkable communities. The contract was then extended to include piloting the guide through facilitating walkable community workshops and train-the-trainer workshops to further increase capacity in local communities for planning inclusive walk audits. The contractor with MDH staff direction also provided professional active transportation planning technical assistance (TA) expertise to local public health Statewide Health Improvement Partnership (SHIP) program staff on a monthly basic to guide implementation of SHIP active living activities.
