conduct two nutrition trainings on Go Wild with Fruits and Veggies
{Empty}
MDE received a USDA Team Nutrition Training Grant with goals of training school nutrition professionals and also providing nutrition education to elementary students. University of MN Extension was the contractor because MDE did not have the capacity to complete the training on their own, and offering direct nutrition education in schools is outside of the scope of MDE employees.

Contractor was responsive and available via email/phone, but some of nutrition lessons started later than anticipated.
The trainers did a nice job and the nutrition education lessons met the deliverables.
The contract was $51,838.65; however the contractor had over $20,000 remaining in their budget at the end of the project. The deliverables were met, so the original budget was not as accurate as it could have been.
Overall, the contractor’s performance was satisfactory. However, we had a challenging time connecting all the schools participating in this program with an Extension Educator in their area. MDE did not anticipate this would happen, as we thought our main contacts at Extension had a system for doing this. Some of the schools started their lessons much later than anticipated.
