Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: To provide lab services to address the clinical sensitivity of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) performed on the newborn dried blood spot (DBS) in the context of universal newborn screening. In addition, for positive results, amplification of DNA for cytomegalovirus (CMV) genotyping, using the glycoprotein B genotyping approach is needed. This will help evaluate the feasibility of using DBS for CMV screening vs. urine and saliva.
