Enhancements to Intelligent Construction Data Mana
3444
The purpose of this project is to enhance the intelligent construction data management system (ICDM) for use of the paver mounted infrared temperature bar on asphalt paving. The results of the work will be used to enhance the intelligent construction data management system (ICDM) for use of the paver mounted infrared temperature bar on asphalt paving so that the data files from the thermal bar can be (1) Geo-Spatially analyzed, by the contractor or agency, for areas of thermal segregation; (2) analyzed/manipulated for use in the determination for a basis of measurement and payment; and (3) to group (or remove) filtered sections for analysis.

The Transtec Group has been the only consultant building the Intelligent Compaction Data Management (ICDM) tool to date under the following contracts:
• FHWA DTFH61-07-R-00032
• MnDOT CN97334
• MnDOT CN01759
• Contracts setup between the vendors and Transtec Group
Additionally, the Transtec Group created the Proval Tool that we currently use in Minnesota and Nationally for monitoring pavement roughness information. The intent for the ICDM tool is to mirror (look similar, include similar tools, etc.) this tools, in order to ease implementation with our Contractors and MnDOT inspectors.

Consequently, they have the tools, resources and knowledge base needed to add additional enhancements to the ICDM tool. An understanding of these technologies and the ICDM tool is needed to complete the additional enhancements. Currently, there is not a faculty member at a university or another consulting company that contains their expertise.

George Chang with the Transtec group has been hired by the FHWA to provide training, nationally, to other agencies and contractors regarding the use of intelligent construction technologies. He is also being hired to be the national representative for technical support to agencies and contractors using these technologies. His efforts and current/past contracts would provide documented evidence of his expertise in this field.
