Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: MnDOT is in need of services to assist with the Babineau Creek Pedestrian Bridge documentation and Condition Assessment prior to the start of work for this roadway repair project. The roadway project involves a new culvert within 10’ of this small bridge and there is risk of damage to the historic structure during construction. This contract also includes assessment and documentation after the construction project to document any damage. MnDOT’s historic stone structures, located within the Right of Way, are part of the historic Minnesota Highway legacy design of the 1930’s and provide the traveling public with points of rest and natural vistas, geological and historic information in the context of these historic structures. MnDOT does not have the staff required for structural assessment of historic structures such as this at this time, and timely inspection an condition documentation is required prior to the road construction project to ensure that there is no damage to the pedestrian bridge during construction.
