Summarize purpose of the contract, including why it was necessary: The purpose of the contract was to obtain final bridge design services for Bridge 62052, which will replace Bridge 9301 and carry TH 51 over I694 in Arden Hills, Minnesota.
There were eight bridges included in the overall project, and MnDOT designed five in-house. In order to meet the construction letting for the project, the remaining three bridges were outsourced to consultants.

Evaluate the contractor's quality Overall plan quality was satisfactory. Submitted plans followed MnDOT Bridge drafting standards.

Evaluate the contractor's overall performance Overall contractor performance was satisfactory. Two areas where contractors work was unsatisfactory was superstructure beam design and efficient pile design and layout. Contractor beam design required significant input from MnDOT to satisfy bridge rating due to poor beam design. Contractor could of used a more efficien
t foundation design which would effect piling.
