Pioneer Farm - Surface Water Evaluation-TMDL/BMP
{Empty}
Edge-of-field runoff driven by rainfall, snowmelt, or a combination of rain and snowmelt can be very costly and labor intensive to monitor. However, this type of monitoring is a vital component of MDA's programs and is important to our local partners and stakeholders. The purpose of this study was to evaluate two alternative methodologies for estimating discharge and collection samples for nutrient and sediment analysis that are less costly and labor intensive than current edge-of-field monitoring strategies.

Progress reports were submitted in a timely manner and there was good communication with the project manager regarding project milestones and progress.
The quality of the work was reflective of the very unique infrastructure and knowledge required to conduct this type of work that the Pioneer Farms possesses at its facility.
Because of the existing infrastructure and facilities that the contractor maintains at Pioneer Farms, significant cost savings were realized. Moreover, the funds used in this contract were leveraged significantly against resources available to the contractor resulting in a very cost-effective project that could have readily cost greater than two-fold the amount of the contract for the equivalent deliverables.
The contractor's overall performance was very good as measured by timeliness, quality of work, and cost effectiveness with respect to resources used for the products delivered.
